Reif Dance is northern Minnesota’s premier dance program.

Since 1989, we have provided quality instruction in a positive and supportive environment for students of all ages.

Our mission is to support the development of each dancer as both an artist and an individual through strong technical training and meaningful performance opportunities.

Students grow personally, artistically, and physically while building confidence, discipline, and lasting friendships. We are proud to foster a welcoming community where dancers encourage and support one another.

ROYAL DANCE CAMP Wondrous Waves

August 17 – 21, 2026 | PreK - 1st Grade

Back by popular demand!

A week-long day camp for every young prince or princess. For students entering grades PreK-1. This half-day camp features theme-based classes and will focus on ballet inspired creative movement, imagination based learning, and arts and crafts. Dancers will perform a small, informal dance demonstration on the last day of the camp to showcase all that they have learned.

MONDAY-FRIDAY: August 17 – 21, 2026

Choose from the following class times:

9:00am-11:00am (PreK-1)
2:00pm-4:00pm (PreK-1)

SUMMER INTENSIVE

August 10 – 21, 2026 | Grades 2 and Up

This two-week dance intensive for students, grades 2 and up, will encompass a plethora of dance styles, including ballet technique, jazz, and hip hop. The focus of the intensive is to build well-rounded dancers in multiple genres and to cultivate an awareness for dance and physical wellness. This focus, with a strong foundation in classical ballet technique, will concurrently study cross-training activities, like Pilates, to assist in the maintenance of a dancer’s top physical and mental shape. In addition, dancers will be led in exercises to promote healthy habits to sustain the longevity of their abilities. Dancers will have the opportunity to try different genres of dance and will be given the freedom to explore the creative world of choreography.

MONDAY-FRIDAY: August 10 – 21, 2026

Beginner (grades 2-5) | 12:30pm-2:30pm
Intermediate (grades 5-7) | 9:00am-12:00pm
Advanced (grades 8 &up) | 9:00am-3:00pm

Beginner Level: $200 (Early Registration $160 before July 10)
Intermediate Level: $250 (Early Registration $210 before July 10)

Styles include:

Dance Fundamentals | Ages 4 – first grade

Dance Fundamentals provides children with the building blocks they need to engage in the world of dance. Our program teaches foundational elements of dance technique while encouraging imagination through movement — the perfect first step before entering more formal classes.

Preschool

Tip-toe, gallop, march! Children are introduced to dance and studio etiquette in this playful, energetic class. Students explore balance, taking turns, and expressive movement through games and music, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of dance.

Kindergarten

Plié, passé, sauté! Students continue to build on dance fundamentals with greater emphasis on dance terminology and studio etiquette, while still nurturing creative and imaginative movement.

Pre-Ballet (1st Grade)

Dancers are introduced to a more structured, ballet-inspired class while cultivating their creative imaginations through expressive movement and play. Students develop the focus, terminology, studio etiquette, and fundamental ballet skills needed to advance into a leveled ballet class.

Tuition and Scholarships

Tuition is based on the number of class periods a student dances each week, and our costs are very competitive.

If cost is a concern, the Reif Center offers full and partial scholarships on a rolling basis.

Reif Dance provides need-based scholarships thanks to generous individuals and support from the Reif Arts Education Fund.

Raeanne Graupmann

Dance Director

Read Raeanne's Bio

A Grand Rapids native, Raeanne began dancing at the Reif Center at age three and has spent the last 13 years teaching, choreographing, and performing across the United States and Europe. Her background spans ballet, jazz, tap, modern, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, ballroom, and musical theatre. Raeanne's choreography has appeared in musicals, flash mobs, vaudevilles, and liturgical performances, and she has contributed to award-winning solos, duets, and over 100 productions. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Maryland. Raeanne is committed to creating a positive, energetic studio environment where dancers of all levels can develop a lasting love for the art of dance.

Katie E. Smith

A Grand Rapids native with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Minnesota Duluth and a minor in dance, Katie has been choreographing for the stage since 1995. She has directed and performed across the Grand Rapids arts community and previously served as Artistic Director of the Michigan Tech Dance Company. Her decades of experience make her one of the most seasoned tap instructors in northern Minnesota.

Beverly is one of the original founders of Reif Dance, helping build the program from its earliest days in 1989. Her formal training includes study with the Minnesota Dance Theater, the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, and the Ruth Page Civic Ballet in Chicago. Bev believes the dedication and discipline learned through dance translate directly into every area of life — a philosophy that has guided her teaching for more than three decades.

Megan Parlanti Belcher

Modern

Read Megan's Bio

Megan studied and performed at the Reif for 14 years before continuing her training at St. Olaf College, where she majored in both dance and Spanish. A highlight of her dance career was a summer at the American Dance Festival at Duke University, studying modern technique, choreography, and performance. She holds a Master's in Education from St. Scholastica and is thrilled to bring modern dance back to the community she grew up in.

Christina Andersen

Christina grew up dancing at the Reif Center and went on to earn a B.A. in Dance and Economics from St. Olaf College. After years of studying, performing, and teaching in New York City — where she also added Pilates and yoga to her repertoire — she returned to Grand Rapids, where she has been teaching dance, yoga, and Pilates for nearly a decade. Christina approaches every class as an opportunity to keep learning alongside her students.

A proud Reif Dance Company alumna, Jinnea grew up dancing at the Reif and went on to earn a Secondary Education degree from the University of North Dakota and a Master of Education from the College of Saint Scholastica. Now in her ninth year teaching social studies at Grand Rapids High School, Jinnea brings the same dedication to her tap classes — helping students build confidence and skill throughout the year.
