The Reif Arts Council

The Reif brings the best live entertainment to the North.

Since opening our doors, we have connected communities across the region — drawing audiences from more than 100 miles away — through the transformative power of music, theater, dance, and visual art.

The Reif Arts Council is the 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that supports the Reif Performing Arts Center with advocacy and fundraising. The Council is an all volunteer board that includes community members, teachers and business leaders who share a love of the arts and the positive impact they have in our community.

Our primary function is presenting top-notch live arts events for the region. We are proud of the world-class performers we put on stage each year, and we make it our goal to listen to the community to find artistic balance for our performances. We strive to support local artists and look for innovative ways to collaborate with other local arts organizations, as well.

Young performers sing and act on stage at The Reif during a lively musical theater production, with children in vintage-style costumes performing around multi-level industrial set pieces under colorful stage lighting.
An evening exterior photo of the Reif Center shows people gathering outside the brightly lit entrance beneath illuminated ‘REIF CENTER’ signs. Warm interior lighting shines through large glass windows as visitors walk across the plaza under a dramatic cloudy sky.

What We Offer

After a major renovation and expansion completed in spring 2016, the Reif Center is home to two distinct performance spaces: the Wilcox Theater and the intimate Ives Studio Theater. Together they host a diverse year-round program of national and international touring artists alongside beloved local performers and school groups.

Programming spans classical and contemporary dance, live music, musical theater, children's theater, comedy, and much more. Our on-site visual art gallery showcases work by local and regional artists throughout the year.

The Reif Arts Council’s mission is “Stimulating Arts in Northern Minnesota.”

The underlying principle guiding our mission is to offer a diverse mix of performing and visual arts to be experienced, exhibited and taught.

Reif Dance Program

Reif Dance is open to students of all ages — from age 4 through adult — with classes available in ballet, jazz, tap, and modern dance. Whether your dancer is just starting out or working toward a performance career, Reif Dance provides a supportive, skill-building environment for every level.

Reif Dance Company

Established in 1994, the Reif Dance Company brings together our most dedicated dancers through a competitive audition process. Company members commit to weekly classes in a variety of styles plus Saturday rehearsals — and their hard work takes center stage in the annual Company Show, which features ballet, tap, jazz, and modern works, including pieces choreographed by the dancers themselves.

Company dancers serve as ambassadors for Reif Dance — performing in the community and beyond, collaborating with staff and guest choreographers, and building lasting bonds across a wide range of ages. It is a program designed to challenge, inspire, and unite young artists.

A line of ballet dancers performs onstage in coordinated black-and-white costumes with sheer skirts and long gloves. The dancers pose gracefully with raised arms against a dimly lit forest backdrop, their reflections visible on the glossy stage floor.
